What most people need from a local copy shop
When you need photocopies quickly, three things matter: a machine that is actually working today, staff who can show you how to scale or straighten your original, and a price list that doesn't change depending on the weather. In Putney Heath the choice is smaller than central London — a good thing, because you can walk in, talk to a real person, and walk out with a clean stack in minutes.
B&W vs colour: which to pick?
Black-and-white copies are the workhorse: revision notes, forms, rental paperwork, meeting handouts. Colour makes sense when the original uses colour to carry information — maps, photographs, marketing flyers, children's homework. If you only need colour on a cover page, ask for a mixed run (1 colour cover + 49 B&W) to keep the price down.
A3, A2 and less common sizes
Standard letters and reports are A4. A3 is the next step up, useful for spreadsheets, architectural plans, or posters shown in a shop window. A2 is much bigger — good for real posters and presentation boards. Not every copy shop has working A2 on the day, so ring ahead if your job depends on it.
Bulk work and same-day turnaround
- Under 100 copies — ready while you wait
- 100–500 copies — usually a 1–2 hour window
- 500+ copies — drop off in the morning, collect same day
Ask about the bulk discount before the job starts — tiered rates kick in at 100, 250 and 500 pages.
